STRONGER – COFAB® gives greater laminate strength pound for pound. And a laminate using weft knitted reinforcements can withstand three times the load before delaminating which improves the fatigue properties and drastically reduces weep in pipes and tanks.
LIGHTER – Dramatic weight reductions are possible without loss of strength when woven materials are replaced by weft knitted fabrics. Less reinforcement can be used because of their greater strength and reliability. The weight reduction is accompanied by significant resin savings due to superior wetout of weft knitted fabrics.
LESS LABOR – Most shops find labor savings when using COFAB®. The reasons are faster resin penetration and frequently, fewer layers. And, mat or costly veils used in laminates to reduce print-through of the wavy woven rovings are often with smoother knitted fabrics.
IMPROVED SURFACE FINISH – Surface pattern is minimized or eliminated because of the flat surface construction of COFAB. The resin required to fill the hills and valleys in woven reinforcements shrinks when it is cured, causing the weave pattern transferred to the surfaces.
COST EFFICIENT – Compared to woven roving, COFAB® is at least 25 percent stronger in tensile and flexural strength plus it can withstand over three times the load before delamination. Thus savings on reinforcements, labor and resin easily offset the higher unit cost of this premium product.
FACT – COFAB® WAS ENGINEERED FOR ONE PURPOSE – TO MAXIMIZE PERFORMANCE AND RELIABILITY FROM THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF REINFORCEMENT IN A LAMINATE.
